The Tuskegee Airmen were not just the pilots that flew planes there were until now navigators, bombardiers, maintenance and support staff, instructors and both the personnel that kept the planes in the air. The Tuskegee Airmen was a squadron of all African Americans that paved the way for fully integration of the U.S. armament. Before 1940 the U.S. military did not allow African Americans to fly aircraft, but because of hug brought on by obliging rights organizations and the black press the institution of an all African American squadron was possible in 1941. The Army chose the Tuskegee Institute because it had the facilities, technical and design instructors, along with great wear for year round f lying. The facility actual started as a civilian Pilot provision Program with the world- sieve folk finishing training in May of 1940. The first sectionalisation of 13 cadets began training on July 19th, 1941. The first 5 graduates to have sex received their fly on March 7th, 1942, this class include future casual Benjamin O. Davis, who would later become Americas first African American General. The Tuskegee Airmen also have Americas first Four Star General: Daniel Chappie James. With the last class graduating on June 29th, 1946 the total number of 992 African Americans pilots graduated from Tuskegee. They number 4 flying squadrons: 99th, 100th, 301st, and the 302nd together they unite to dorm the 332nd supporter group. The Tuskegee Airmen flew four different combat aircraft: the P-39, the P-40, the P-47, and the P-51. The Tuskegee also included a bomber group that would never test action ascribable to the fact that World War II ended sooner they were deployed.
